My capstone theme is “Medieval”. I have always wanted to build a suit of armour and now in this capstone class I feel like I have the time and resources to do so. I love mechanical and mathematical things, and moving from ceramics to a more woodworking based capstone has been very interesting for me. Woodworking and building things works alot better with me than just clay. My armour is built out of wood and wire frame, insulated with foam and wrapped in metal or spray painted. It took me a while to come up with my theme,I had been working mainly on small clay structures, none of them that i was really happy with, and then I decided to build a sword, with the idea of armour coming soon after. I chose medieval for my capstone, because it can tie into most of the things that I have made. My favorite piece that I’ve made in capstone would probably have to be “Claws”. They are comfortable glove with sharp points on the ends. I made it kind of by accident while whittling down a bunch of sticks. Eventually I had a row of 8 claws, so I made some gloves for them and now they are spiked gloves.
